The Chocolate Book Tag

Untitled

I found this tag over at Lauren Busser’s Blog and I thought that I would give it a try. I love chocolate and I couldn’t resist the chance to relate books to this amazing food of the gods.

So, here we go.

Warning: I may have used some inappropriate photos and you may leave this tag with a sudden craving of chocolate!

Dark Chocolate

A book that covers a dark topic (abuse, domestic violence, rape, lonlieness, bullying, death, etc)

The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris definitely fit the bill. This book doesn’t go into grave details but you gan feel the gravity of the situation where millions of lives were lost.

White Chocolate

Your favorite light-hearted/humourous read

The Cafe by the Sea is a cute book about this girl who doesn’t like where she is from but quickly learns that her birth place is pretty extraordinary. It is light-hearted with a dash of humor.

Milk Chocolate

A book that has a lot of hype that you’re dying to read

A hyped book that I am dying to read is I Have Lost My Way by Gayle Foreman. This book sounds amazing. How can you not be hooked when you read:

“When a fateful accident draws these three strangers together, their secrets start to unravel as they begin to understand that the way out of their own loss might just lie in helping the others out of theirs.”

I’ve been avoiding spoilers regarding it because I just want to experience this amazing book for myself.

Chocolate with A Caramel Center

Name a book that made you feel all gooey in the middle while you were reading it

I totally got the warm and fuzzies reading the book Forever Our Boys by Heidi McLaughlin. I loved the journey of these mothers who are best friends who watch their kids find love as adults.

Wafer-free Kit-Kat

Name a book that surprised you lately.

I was completely blown away by The Casquette Girls by Alys Arden. I love reading books about my home state of Louisiana and the bayou region. Often though, as a native, I can tell when the author gets a wrong. Arden hit the nail on the head. She weaves history and legend beautifully.

Snickers

A book that you are going nuts about?

I was completely blown away by The Light We Lost by Jill Santapolo. I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. I loved how it was almost written like a mental journal. I can safely say I am telling everyone about this book.

Hot Chocolate with Cream and Marshmallows

What book would you turn to for a comfort read?

It just seems like a comfort book. I will be reading it shortly.

Box of Chocolates

What series have you read that you feel has a wide variety and a little something for everyone

IMG_7959

I love reading series books. The journey that a character or a family take is wonderful to watch. Sometimes I am left wanting to see where a character will end up with a stand-alone.

This series follows the Quinn family and all the dynamics that go along with family.

That’s it for the chocolate book tag! I don’t apologize to anyone who might be craving chocolate after reading this. I am however, going to tag a few people to keep this going.

Lauren @ Lauren Busser
Destiny @ Howling Libraries
Avise @ Consider The End
Harper @ Harper Grae

And anyone else who has happened upon this tag and wants to give it a try! Please don’t be shy!

As always if you’ve done this before or if this isn’t your cup of tea, you can ignore this tag and I won’t take it personally.

Happy Reading!! — xo Carmen
