The Glass Spare by Lauren DeStefano

the-glass-spare-reviewMy Thoughts:

Wil is a characer I have never encountered before. She is fierce yet timid, loving yet reserved. She is a walking contradiction with a world full of doubt and turmoil. She is fascinating.

My Rating: four-starsfour-starsfour-starsfour-stars … I WOULD PULL AN ALL-NIGHTER

Here is the Goodread Synopsis:

Wil Heidle, the only daughter of the king of the world’s wealthiest nation, has grown up in the shadows. Kept hidden from the world in order to serve as a spy for her father—whose obsession with building his empire is causing a war—Wil wants nothing more than to explore the world beyond her kingdom, if only her father would give her the chance.

Until one night Wil is attacked, and she discovers a dangerous secret. Her touch turns people into gemstone. At first Wil is horrified—but as she tests its limits, she’s drawn more and more to the strange and volatile ability. When it leads to tragedy, Wil is forced to face the destructive power within her and finally leave her home to seek the truth and a cure.

But finding the key to her redemption puts her in the path of a cursed prince who has his own ideas for what to do with her power. With a world on the brink of war and a power of ultimate destruction, can Wil find a way to help the kingdom that’s turned its back on her, or will she betray her past and her family forever?

Books #1-3 of the Honor Bound Series by Angel Payne

My Thoughts:

These were good, fast-paced and steamy reads. The series follows a special forces team. Each book highlights one of the men and their journey to finding their match with one obvious difference. They like things a little on the wild wide.

My Rating: three-starsthree-stars…IT WAS GOOD!

My reads for this week are:

I am not sure what my upcoming reads will be this week. I have books #4-5 of the Honor Bound series or jump into my Book of the Month choice for August.

FYI: My summer “personally owned” stack has dwindled a ton but I still have 2-3 left to read.

I really want to keep up with my BOM books each month. I can kick myself for letting a few months past where they were left unread because they were awesome.

School Has Begun!

School started for us this week. The teachers, thats me, went Monday-Wednesday for meetings and BOY prep. The students started Thursday. We had a great first two days. the boundary lines were redrawn for our school so we gained about 50 new students.

Second grade gained about 9 new faces. Thats always fun meeting new kids. Reading at a small school you always tend to know the students  whether they are in your grade or not.

Coop went for his Pre-K testing Thursday and was very upset that he couldn’t go back to school Friday. That boy!!! He will have to be patient his first official day is this coming Friday.

We had a great friday night under the lights. The cub scout pack had their last summer pack activity at the NOLA ‘Cakes baseball game. We had a blast. The hubby and I love baseball. They boys had a hard time following since baseball can be very slow at times.

It was also little baby Amelia’s first birthday.

This blend is a little extra pep in your step. Especially this week when school started again.

It also helps with mental alertness and is uplifting. Just a little drop or two under your feet before you put those shoes on in the morning or before a workout.

  • Get back into the groove of a routine. It will take a little while for things to calm down.
  • I am 2 books behind my Goodreads pace…slowly getting back on pace.

That’s all y’all…LOL! How was your week? Have you read any of the books I listed…give me the scoop? Any thoughts about my week? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by! — xx
