Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

My Thoughts:

Awww…Is the first thing that comes to mind when I reflect on this book.

To find that life-altering, soul-shaking, rest-of-your-life bond was magical to watch with Macy and Elliot. The facts that they both and so much to overcome with a decade in between was both heartbreaking and phenomenal all at the same time.

I devoured this book. I love finding books that are all consuming. 🙂

five-starsfive-starsfive-starsfive-starsfive-starsIT WAS AMAZING! I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! I’M TOTALLY OBSESSED! — This book was absolutely breathtaking. I LOVED it. The characters were memorable and had distinct voices. The plot line of this book held my attention and was unique, and the pacing was fantastic. The author’s writing style is another reason for the high rating. I love reading books with a consistent, lyrical writing style that flows well. These books often stay with me for a long time.  After finishing, I can’t stop thinking about it. I often reread this book multiple times. Highly Recommended!

Here is the Goodreads synopsis:

The story of the heart can never be unwritten.

Macy Sorensen is settling into an ambitious if emotionally tepid routine: work hard as a new pediatrics resident, plan her wedding to an older, financially secure man, keep her head down and heart tucked away.

But when she runs into Elliot Petropoulos—the first and only love of her life—the careful bubble she’s constructed begins to dissolve. Once upon a time, Elliot was Macy’s entire world—growing from her gangly bookish friend into the man who coaxed her heart open again after the loss of her mother…only to break it on the very night he declared his love for her.

Told in alternating timelines between Then and Now, teenage Elliot and Macy grow from friends to much more—spending weekends and lazy summers together in a house outside of San Francisco devouring books, sharing favorite words, and talking through their growing pains and triumphs. As adults, they have become strangers to one another until their chance reunion. Although their memories are obscured by the agony of what happened that night so many years ago, Elliot will come to understand the truth behind Macy’s decade-long silence, and will have to overcome the past and himself to revive her faith in the possibility of an all-consuming love.

Other Peoples Houses by Abbi Waxman

35742707My Thoughts:

Its was like a season of Young and the Restless. Like those good ole 90s tv soap operas. I really enjoy the dynamic between all the families that lived in this neighborhood.

It really drives home the notion that you really don’t know whaat happens behind closed doors figuratively and literally.

I enjoyed the quirky and funny aspects of it as well.

four-starsfour-starsfour-starsfour-stars I WOULD PULL AN ALL-NIGHTER — This book was a really enjoyable read. I really liked it. Some moments I may have even loved.  There may have been a few things that I felt could be improved upon.  Or there may be nothing wrong with the book, it just didn’t blow me away.  I would recommend this book to most people and think most people would really enjoy this book.

Here is the Goodreads synopsis:

At any given moment in other people’s houses, you can find…repressed hopes and dreams…moments of unexpected joy…someone making love on the floor to a man who is most definitely not her husband…

*record scratch*

As the longtime local carpool mom, Frances Bloom is sometimes an unwilling witness to her neighbors’ private lives. She knows her cousin is hiding her desire for another baby from her spouse, Bill Horton’s wife is mysteriously missing, and now this…

After the shock of seeing Anne Porter in all her extramarital glory, Frances vows to stay in her own lane. But that’s a notion easier said than done when Anne’s husband throws her out a couple of days later. The repercussions of the affair reverberate through the four carpool families–and Frances finds herself navigating a moral minefield that could make or break a marriage.

My reads for this week are:

IMG_8063.JPGThis week was a totally mom fail in the sense that I planned too much for me and my little car to handle. One kid had swimming lessons while the other kid has cub scout camp.

Camp called and asked if I could help out more than just Friday (which was what I signed up for). Sure I said because I want my kids to have a great time. So I ended up volunteering Monday-Thursday from 1-3:30 and all day Friday.

So needless to say by the time the weekend rolled around we were whooped. So I called Aunt Peggy to see if we could go chill out at her pool. HOORAY for us!

Oh, my crafty side also came out this week at the adult crafting event at the public library. This is sooooo not me but I had a great time trying it on for size. My Hello Sunshine isn’t that bad, right?!

Oil of the Week.jpegI am an avid oiler so it totally donned on me…why aren’t you sharing your love on your weekly wrap up.

So I thought I would start sharing with you my favorite essential oil of the week. Essential oil are just as much a part of my life as reading and my family which I blab about every week in this wrap up. So here goes…

Abundance is a very fantastic blend of Orange, Frankincense, Patchouli, and Ginger. It’s designed to not only attract prosperity, but to help magnify peace and joy.

How fitting when we are mid-year and people are reevaluating their goals they set back in January?

Sometimes I just open the cap and take a few deep breathe almost in a meditative way. Diffusing it by itself is awesome or amplify it with Orange to create a positive, uplifting atmosphere throughout your home for everyone to soak in.

Like i was wearing a jacket and jeans and trainers on saturday afternoon, and sunday was super hot. Today is OK, but not really summery because of the wind.

Wow. What a difference! We have been having regular 90 degrees heat since the beginning of June and it will last well into October.
